A sixty second example
1. Start the Terminal, it's in Applications -> Utilities or look here for instructions.
2. A window like this will appear:

3. Type the word
date
in the Terminal window and press
4. The Computer prints the current date and time:
Thu Mar 3 00:48:45 PST 2005
You see, it's pretty easy. Sure you didn't do anything exciting. But it was not particular tough either.
And doing more elaborate things with the Terminal works much like this: you enter a text and press enter, the computer reacts.
You can exit the Terminal like any other Mac application:
